LMP VIDEO!!

Just uploaded a 'never-before-seen' video of the EVO magazine LMP test.

This was carried out at Bedford Autodrome last year, but after trawling through some old files I discovered it.

The video only shows one lap of a 4-hour test, but I think it conveys how much Phil Bennett was enjoying driving the car...

ENJOY!

UH! When will people learn to use camera tripods?! Compared to the cost of vehicle developement, a camera tripod costs nothing, yet makes a HUGE difference in presentation. I watched about 1/3 of it before I gave up.

I'm sorry for the rant Steve, I'm not venting just at you. I just can't understand why so many young businesses, who are trying to put their best foot foward, and appear professional, miss this trivial but absolute requirement...

Well, considering this was arranged at 5pm the previous evening and we had to travel 450 miles to get there whilst remembering all of our other equipment, I'm surprised I even remembered the camera! This wasn't shot as a promo video, it was really for our own posterity, I just thought you might like to see the LMP in action.

I agree the quality isn't that good, but I only filmed from one position and it's hard to keep a steady hand when zooming at that distance. You should have stuck with it as the 2/3rds you missed were a bit smoother!

Thanks for sharing the video! Being from a younger generation and growing up watching the Real World and other reality shows (prior to the craze), I viewed it as an ad hoc documentary--not a marketing piece. Well done.

I'd love to get a proper promo video done as I (think!) I have some good ideas for it. But the expense with some of these pro' companies is horrendous.

Do you know anyone in Hollywood...?

Why go pro when you can get a very good amateur to do one for a fraction of the cost?

for future promo vids ...

Check Racing Green's video of TVR Sagaris for inspiration.
Similar result could easily be achieved without pro help.

Cheers.

I agree an amateur attempt can work well. A tripod and having several helpers can make it happen. Buy one of those stick-on camera mounts to get several inside and outside clips, then edit it with the now widely available video editing tools and you're set. In my case it's hard to get help during filming...

I was involved in a race series that had a promo video made to try and boost entries. afaik it cost them a couple of grand, i have a copy on vhs somewhere. look at hicosts website, f1camera.com, the bullet cam kit isn't cheap either for the good on board shots eg on front splitter etc.

Shame there wasn't more engine noise in the vid steve, guess its asking a bit much of the camera, even if it did have a zoom mic!

Good to see the lmp in action though..

It's a decent amateur video, and it's good to see the car in action.

More close-up action would have been good, a tripod would have helped, but that's not what the video was about - it's a film of someone having a good time.

David
