Pug Engine Question
What engine is in a Pug 206 Gti on a 51 plate.
Is it a Mi16 or a close relative or something else entirely.
Also any tuning guidance would be appreciated.
I'm asking for a mate, i don't know a lot about pug engines. although have read the puma racing guide

No it's a different beast entirely.
MI 16 is XU9JP4
206 is EW10J4 as I recall
They will bolt to the gearboxes of each other though.

Sell it and buy something quicker - may sound silly, but by the time he's paid for any decent level of tuning and the almost certainly higher
insurance premium for a modified car he could probably sell it and by a Clio 172 / Ibiza Cupra / 206GTI 180 etc.
I take it he's not up for a kit car build?

Has some interesting info on pug engines, but this info relates more to the XU10/XU9 engine rather than an EW10
As above switch to a Gti 180 ;-)
EDITED: As i was talking trash and thought he had a GTi 180

light engine, all aluminium, dry cast liners, needs better exhaust and intake for best power. so a set of TB's, manifold + mappable ecu and some
cams will give you near 200 HP..
having said that, I'd better go for the old 1.9 16V, or the iron bloked XU10 from 306 GTI6, which has the most tunning potential...
