New Design - Build Blog.

Hi All,

Got my website up and running, not much to show on it at the moment but hopefully it'll turn into something useful for everyone in time.

www.guerillamotive.com

Any suggestions as to what I should shove on there are welcome.

Also anyone know people who do FIA roll cage approval on the cheap? I've done a fairly decent engineering analysis of the thing I think but apparently it needs to be signed off by a approved Engineer.

I find the 1st page very cluttered if that helps at all.

Potentially very nice looking car though - good luck.

I know that there is only one place in the UK that is approved to do roll cage approval by analysis which happens to be where I work - and I think only one person is allowed to sign off the approval. I'm almost certain that your own analysis won't be acceptable as there is a well correlated database of material properties which are used.

It may be easier/cheaper to just build it to the blue book standards as then you don't need any analysis or crush test.

I doubt you'll find anyone who'll approve it on the cheap as by approving it there is a certain amount of liability being taken on if it doesn't work.

If I remember from my racing days, you do not need approval as long as you can prove it's the correct cds tube and have it in the correct configuration.
The blue book gives details of acceptable layouts.
For example, a full cage is not mandatory, only a rear rollover bar.
I am working from my memory of racing in 1992, so check first !

The site is too dark and dingy.

It will be hard to read on many screens.

It is advisable, never to use a black background.

looks fantastic, the concept looks similar to the kia sportscar that is on my website under 'inspiration'.

My intention was to build my own bodywork over a mk indy chassis, but i'm finding that time is an issue and if i ever want to get the car on the road in the near future I will have to use the standard bodywork. Although with some modifications inc new cycle wing designs.

I could also return to the original concept in a few years, but for now i'd like to get the car on the road!!

Good luck and have fun with it.

lol - That's why the background is dark blue - get a decent screen that will help.

I thought the colours were quite nice I'll need to try a few other PC's to see it they're difficult to read.

I see what you mean about the the fist page of the blog I'll stuff about with that see if it can be made gentler on the eye to start with.

On the roll frame I'm in Australia so I've got the CAMS regulations to work under which appear to expect you to go buy an homologated frame with the paperwork and plate to prove it. Which is a bit of a bugger is you want to do something a bit 'special'.

Inspiration for the shape of the car to date has mainly come from the Bugatti Atlantique Type 57 and Porsche 917
