My fabbed front upright
Uses a bolt-on wheel bearing/hub unit.

There has been much discussion over the kingpin inclination angle as one of the aspects that affects the self centering action. What have you used and
how did you decide this? It seems this is a major isue with Cortina Uprights.

Alan,
What bolt on bearing are you using?
I'm using Corvette C5 uprights and have to buy the bearings at some point. At the moment the lowest cost solution has been the Timken bearing
from Auto Parts Wharehouse at less than $200 a pop. Do you know of a better supplier than that?

Bloody hell, are top and bottom ball joints for our Cortina uprights are less than £10 each!!!

The bottom ball joint for a C5 is ~$65 (about the price of a GOOD 1/2" rod end bearing which is not suited to the job), the top one is fitted
into the upright so generally comes with the upright.
The wheel bearing assembly is as a Timken part is ~$170 and looks like:
So you don't have to deal with clapped out axles dodgy wheel studs or any else such stuff.
Alan may well not be using C5 bits and may well have found a cheaper part for his application, we'll have to wait and see...

The hub unit is the same as at the rear. There are quite a few to choose from at least in the US...this particular one is from the Chevy Cavalier (5 x
100mm) and can be bought quite reasonably.
