there are 'some' car parts in here (link below),
but people have been asking this question for ages. There is not often exactly what you want, but you can use generic models and then tweak them to
suit your parts.

Good idea. We could set up a google group - they're free and you can host files, plus host discussions. I'm using one to gather ideas for
my build: http://groups.google.com/group/puk7
I'll set one up once I've got the kids off to bed.

I think I've got some Cortina uprights in CAD form somewhere - maybe some other bits like hubs too. I'll have a rummage later.

So far I've found a brake bias bar, an Austin Maxi ball joint (don't ask), Cortina brakes, Escort rack ......... etc etc.
Might be enough to start the ball rolling

I'm not sure how to allow every one to upload files yet. But Raz if you try emailing your files to me (jahobbis @ gmail dot com) then
I'll paste them up.
cheers,
James

Why didn't you just upload them to the 3Dcontentcentral site I posted up? Its already regarded as one of the best online model directories? And
I'm sure there's already loads of good starting points.

I'll see if we can get that attractive buxom lass to create a sticky. Chris is that a possibility?

A touch of button trouble maybe?

Ok I've zipped and saved the files - clicking on them now will force a down load.
The dwg files are AutoCAD's native format, and they are a mix of 2D and 3D formats.
DXF files can be read by AutoCAD and I believe by other CAD packages too (DXF on wikipedia) the files on
the site are a mix of 2D and 3d.
According to wikipedia the IGES files are a neutral file format - but my copy of AutoCAD light
won't touch them. I haven't tried them with SolidWorks yet.
Bear in mind when using these files that there is no guarantee that they are 100% accurate.

Puk

Probably the best neutral file format is SAT you might want to look at that.
The hardest part of this will be getting some sort of order to the file types stored, probably should ask for 2 or 3 versions of each file: Native,
SAT & IGES.

File Formats
Larry - could you edit you original post to include a link to the files:
Link removed as the CAD site has been compromised...... .... Fozzie...Admin
That will save people having to wade through the whole thread.
Doug I've grouped the files by component type (suspension / brakes / chassis etc.) I wasn't going to impose a standard format on them,
initially at least lets just group the files that people already have on their C drives. If there is a demand then I'll search out some
conversion utilities. Or maybe if some one can't use DWG but needs the file they can do the conversion and then post the new format up to the
site.
Cheers,
Puk
