VAG 1.8T price?

Just got a silly trade in value for my Seat Leon,
im starting to think it would be of more value to break it up.
How much does the engine go for these days?
Im sure i could make quite a bit from the leather interior, wheels, light cluster etc.

About £1,200-500 for the full engine conversion with clocks, ecu, keys etc

Nothing major, a minor dint on the near side front wing and thats about it.

Was offered £1.9k trade in from Seat for a TDI Leon, the guy said thats its too old(2000) for him to resell on the at hte showroom and it would be sent to auction.

It depends on the engine BHP

I bought a 1.8T from a TT 225 with 60,000 mile on the clock. Engine as about £1700.00 but by the time you add on the ECU, engine wiring, intercoolers, downpipes and paying to get the emobiliser removed from the ECU it was up at £2400

A 180BHP engine will be about £500 less.

Use it for a se7en connected to a MT75 box.

I'm downing the conversion just now.

Have you thought about selling it privately - you'll get more for it and probably have more bargaining power with the dealer with a cash deposit on your new one.

I was looking for another golf/a3/leon sort of car recently and the 1.8t's hold their value well. Personally i'd hold out privately for between the £4-5k mark atleast on autotrader. The main bits are worth a lot ie engine, interior etc but after that its hassel and its going to leave you with a shell to get rid.

I agree - best to sell it on Autotrader for the going rate. Chances are that it will sell quicker than you can break, strip & sell it in parts - plus you will probably have to pay to get the carcass removed to the scrappy.

Cheers,

Aye, i think autotrader might be the way to go.

The thought had passed my mind about using it myself in something suitably light weight but i carnt evan finish the first one atm never mind another!

Cheers chaps.
