I was told a V8 could pass every car on the road except it couldn't pass a petrol station!

We don't tend to get too much snow in June although I do remember it once in the late sixties/early seventies

10th June 1973, it was a monday (had sub aqua diving club that night), it started snowing about 07:30 and didn't stop until about 15:00. I was at Kettering Tech at the time and it took me 3 hrs and 7 gallons off petrol to drive the 12 miles back home to Thrapston (no A14 in those days) ( not that it would have improved matters).

I think that my fuel guage is fairly pessimistic but mine seems to want a drink every 75 miles...........

75 miles is about right for me too.

thats a cool pick i cant wait to be at that stage wear all my cash goes in the tank off my car istead off my wifes car only doing 21 mpg iam expecting the viento to be 12ish

I wont take my full tank past 100 miles.
Like Simon, usually fill up at about 80+ miles.

On a run, like to Newark (A14, A1) or Stoneleigh (A14, M6) I average about 25mpg at a steady 70 (ish).

Round town, and wearing the lead divers boot on the right foot, I recon I can get it down into single figures if I try hard enough!

But what the hell.... You either want that V8 rumble, or you want a fat wallet. Neither comes easily with a kit car!

I prefer the V8 sound... whatever it costs.
Otherwise I wouldnt have built it with a V8 in it!

However.... I have been having Dark (BLACK Fuel) thoughts. What about a Volvo D5 diesel?
My mates Volvo S60 has been re-mapped by some guys in Sweden. He has best managed 67mpg on a run, and regularly gets 55mpg including round towm.
BHP increased from 160 to 220 and torque is now over 400Ft lbs. And thats dragging a 1.5 ton of Volvo bodywork around.
Stick it in a Viento, and it could be interesting. (also I believe its an all alloy engine)
