Track Rod End
Cubby - 16/3/09 at 05:25 PM

Hi Guys,

I need to replace one of track rod ends on my luego velocity but i don't know what vehicle the luego supplied part came from. It needs to fit a mk2 escort steering rack.

Does anyone know what track rod end can be used as the mk2 part didn't fit?

Cheers

Does the rack have extension pieces on the end? What upright do they connect to?

Are they Sierra uprights?

I don't know but I'd guess if they're Sierra uprights then I'd try Sierra TREs.

James

have you got a mk 1 rack or an rs2000 rack?they are both different i believe

Yes it has extension pieces on the rack.

It's a standard mk2 escort steering rack.

Well, my suspicion is that you have Sierra uprights?

So the female end of the extension may be Mk2 and the male end may well be Sierra.

So try a Sierra TRE.

Sierra Track Rod Ends have the same thread and taper as the Excort/Cortina type.

It is easy to spot Sierra Track Rod Ends the ball joint centre line is off set from the rod centre line when viewed from above, for this reason Sierra TRE are handed for left and right side of the vehicle. They are also slightly longer.

Escort/Cortina TRE are conventional. --- the rod thread is in line with ball joint.
