Well I guess you all new it was coming. Does anyone have a Rover V8 Flywheel with holes for the 9.5in clutch cover. As I understand it the Flywheels are all the same size and the holes are in different places. I have a 10.5in flywheel but I don't feel that confident in drilling it out.

Drilling is a precision job, and then it would need re-ballancing again.
I would have it done professionally.

OR....

Look for a P6 or a SD1 Flywheel.
The 10.5" ones were mainly Range Rover ones.

Its basically anything that had a LT77 gearbox, as the LT85, and LT95 Boxes used a bigger Bellhousing as used on the V8 Rangeys, and some landys.

just struggling getting garage time at the mo :-)

Been struggling for garage time as well myself. I have had no luck with finding a flywheel on forums and such so its buying one.

There are a few on ebay and most are £150 upwards. Is it worth spending this sort of money on lightlened wheels? Will it help my engine rev better as claimed on RPI's website?

The lighter the flywheel, the quicker it will increase the revs.
The downside with a really light flywheel is a lumpy or erratic tickover.
ie maybe not so much fun in traffic!

I have a RPI lighten flywheel and have not noticed any problems at low revs, Rev's up nicely but dont know if its any better than a normal one as I cant compare.

Main reason why I bought one was that I had had too much to drink to be looking at items on their Ebay site.

It seems that the RPI lightened wheel is a reasonable price. Normally RPI are quite highly priced. Perhaps I shall have to much to drink and then 185 pounds might seem a good deal.

I have bitten the bullet and purchased a Flywheel from RPI. There just didn't seem to another option other than having a Rangy one machined. Phone Chris at RPI who seems a very nice fellow and seems to know his stuff. He can talk though!!!

Is there a gasket between the Bellhousing and the block? Also is there a gasket between the gearbox and bell?

Chris Crane certainly knows his onions when it comes to Rover V8's.

A chap I know is a close mate of his and has known him for many many years.
He speaks highly of him.
RPI are very good, but probably not the cheapest out there.
At least RPI stuff is good quality. You wont be wrong buying from them. Maybe a little poorer. but at lkeast it will do the job properly.
