Horn and Fog Light Swtches question
SteveWallace - 9/2/12 at 01:27 PM

Just a quick question...

Is there any IVA or electrical reason why I could not use the windscreen wash/wipe stalk on my Sierra column to work my rear fog light and the horn. I will not need it for its intended use as I will not have a windscreen.

I can wire the stalk so that all wiper positions would switch the rear fog light on (and energise the light on the dashboard) and the wash position (which is spring loaded and would not stay on unless held in place) would work the horn. Of course, I would have to label the stalk accordingly to be IVA compliant, but thats not a problem.

Cant see why not, although having 3 positions for a fog light may be considered to 'cause confusion'.

No reason as long as it'smarked corectly.

That what I thought. I'll give it a go and see what Mr IVA says (in about a years time).

I did think about the 'cause confusion' point, but hopefully as long as its labelled properly it should be OK, plus it will be obvious when the fog light is on due to the light on the dashboard.
