viento's first MOT
DanP - 3/5/13 at 07:06 AM

Its first MOT time today at 3pm, car is just under 4 years old but has been off the road for 14months (sadly), quite a late night last night checking everything over and found a few small electrical gremlins, and did the yearly bolt and hose checks too.

Any common problems that happen at kit MOT time that I should look for? Desperate to get her back on the road and needing a retest would be a real faff so really want a pass!

Thanks!

I passed mine in Southampton (well Eastleigh) yesterday - let me know if you need a garage recommendation!

Check simple stuff - bulbs, split gaiters on your ball joints, tyre tread etc. There is not much to need testing on our cars, so it will be something silly that catches you out!

What's your ground clearance? Watch that rolling road.

My tester didn't use the rolling road - he preferred to judge the brakes by asking me! :O

Passed with 3 advisories, oil leak, coolant leak and a little bit of play apparent in 2 of the polybushes (which seems unlikely but will have a look at)

Very pleased, am back on the road after 19 months just in time for the good weather!

Nice one, but what makes you think we are going to get good weather?
