I have a broken alternator on my ST locost and just after some guidance on where I can get a new one from.
The part number on the existing one which I took off last week is 54021918.
Done a quick internet search but can't find one for sale.
Thanks
Chris
A photo would help, It is a a run of the mill Lucas type I can't be sure which type if the rear of the alternator has a large black
cover it is a Lucas ACR probably an ACR17, if it has a an alloy back with the regulator brush pack mounted on externally by two bolts its is
the later Lucas Magneti-Marelli A127.
The most common faults on both types are really easy to fix.
It is a Lucas I can see it stamped on there. It is from Halfords it has HAL419 printed on the label too and it has a large black plastic cover.
At Hullavington on a td and after an afternoon session the started squealing and stopped in the pits with coolant overflowing. Upon inspection we
thought the water pump had seized as the squealing was the belt stuck which runs the alternator and water pump - xflow 1300. When I got home I
loosend the alternator to get the belt off and the alternator sounds like it's full of nuts and bolts.
I presumed it was dead but if there is a fix that would be great.
Let me know f a pic would help ill post one after the kids are in bed.
Cheers.
ebay search on Lucas 17 ACR it comes in right and left handed versions but it takes less than 5 minutes to convert a right handed to a left handed and vice versa.
Great stuff. Plenty on ebay that look like the one.
Shall be purchasing one tonight.
Thanks very much.
