Hi all, I am pickin up me Viento mid Jan 05, from luego, cant wait to get started, anyone else recently built one as i wondering roughly how long it took/is takin you??, any replies welcome!
hi Hector,
welcome to the madhouse!
im not building a luego, but i should imagine this type of kit is fairly similar to one another. for a start, everything you do will take twice as
long as you initially thought, and cost twice as much, but i guarantee you, that it will be well worth the effort.
i picked up my bodywork last thurs, and fitted it this morning (temporarily - still in its bubblewrap) and it put a massive smile on my face, just
seeing my little car take another step towards looking like a car.
enjoy - it will be like christmas as a kid come january 5th for you, then sleepless nights after that dreaming of colour schemes
all the best,
tom
Splend, i shoudl fit well into this madhouse! cant wait- no more evenings havin to endure eaastenders/constipation street etc.....
Does any one know if a sierra xr4x4 gearbox can be modded to conventional 2 whl drive?, or do i need to get another box?, any one else fitted a V6
into a viento?? i have a lot of questions as this is me first project into kitcars!
If you are using Sierra Front hubs take them with you, and they will ream the bottom taper out while you wait (tell them you will be bringing them),
as you dont want to make another trip just to get them done like I did... but then I am not too far away.
Its a pretty leisurely affair, get there just after 10am... leave about 4 pm after you have eaten them out of biscuits (Ducks Down)
Allow at least an hour minimum, others may turn up, and you will chat, etc etc!
Nice friendly people..
Oh... BTW Hector... "Its just a big old Viento"
Welcome to the Mad House!..
Thanks for that mr wilks, i just got some front hubs as i needed ones with out driveshafts, will make sure i take em as its a long way from
plymouth!! gonna have to leave about 5am i reckon.
ps will a viento kit fit in a LDV convoy(lwb, high top), i measured it up to the seats and its just short of the 3400mm i need but i thought is it
poss to support front end of chassis in bulkhead above seats??
Mine is 3400mm long (towing eye on front )
1200mm wide (at the seating area)
1000mm high to the top of the roll cage.
Take plenty of blankets / dustsheets to stop scratching the chassis, and some rope to secure it all.
I got mine in the back of a mates Double Glazing wagon, but dont remember what sort of vehicole it was.. a bit like a merc Sprinter size, but we had
to have the back doors open!.. tied down with the handy rope we took
All good Fun.. and the Name's Geoff.
All the best, and Enjoy the build.. Plenty of helpful chaps (and a few chapesses).
Hi geoff
The LDV i may use is our d.glazing wagon aswell, i reckon it should go in, just got to persuade the boss to let me borrow it for a day.
cheers for the help,colin.
How do Hector, I'll be picking mine up on 22 Jan so might see you there. Just one quick Question to the Luego boys tho'. Can you tell me
what the approx weight of the chassis alone is?
Ta very muchly.
4 people can lift it easily. 2 is a struggle but possible, if you are big lads.
Other tip... Do the clutch pedal bits BEFORE the brake pedal. As you have to take the brake pedal out to get at the clutch pedal pivot etc etc. Guess
how I know this?
Have Fun..

get ready for a nice long drive, when me and mr G went up there it took us about 5 hours each way, and were in exmouth you better have a good roof rack if your gonna try and put on yer roof.....lol
Why not make up a wide axle and wheels Ala Towsure. Then make up a couple of bits of Angle Iron or 2x2" box section with a Tow hitch on it. ie
two separate parts.
A few U bolts, and a trailer board.
Then clamp the axle to a suitable part of the chassis at the back, and clamp the hitch somewhere up front and Voila! a trailer!. Then tow it home.
There is bugger all weight there.
or borrow a trailer, or Hire / Borrow a LDV Van for the day.
Just a thought.
