Hi Folks,
I've just joined after talking to the people at luego about where to get advice.
I was hoping to get peoples opinions and experiences of the Viento build (i have a 3.5 rover just looking for a car!)
I'm thinking of buying the budget blaster kit it looks very good value, this would be my first kit, i have a rebuilt engine + gearbox and am
currently at work on the donor bits and pieces.
how much more do you realistically have to spend to have a driveable car?? is it a good first kit?
Thanks,
Dan
Hi
I am in the process of buildin my Viento @ moment, this is my first build aswell. Have just about got a rolling chassis with brakes near completion
and have had no serious problems yet!!
As to the rough cost of finishing one, i predict its goin to cost about 3 grand to finish mine, but it all depends how much you wish spend on items
such as suspension, wheels, seats, gauges etc.
You say you have already done the eng/gearbox rebuild so that helps!
The kit is in my opinion ,good quality ie the chassis/welds are excellent and has all mounts and brackets on it, but you still may need to modify
things during your build
hope this helps
cheers colin
Dan,
I am building a RV8 Viento as well.
I am 5' 10" and my son is 6' 5" and we are both 16/17 stone. Which is why I chose a Viento.
The Viento is a nice kit, and well made. Personally I think its expensive compared with the other kits, but then its bigger, and will take the larer
engines. The quality of ALL the Luego kit is very good. They are a very friendly bunch, and do their best to to help you out. The Customers arent a
bad bunch either
The quality of their kit is excellent, however the price reflects this.
However, you cant make a silk purse from a sow's ear can you? Like most things in life you get what you pay for, and the Luego kits are very
much in line with this. A bit more expensive, but just a that bit better.
The Rover V8 is a good engine and expensive if you need to rebuild to a good standard, like I had to.
However, its also go plenty of power and is fairly relaxed in its delivery of that power.
I certainly am happy with my Luego, and the help that I have recieved from them.
I cant fault them.
Lets put it like this:
If you choose a Luego Viento... the worst case will be a larger expenditure from your budget. However... You WILL end up with a decent car. Isnt that
why you are building your own to get a decent car??
You can always shop around for the bargains, and you can always fit the better and glitzier bits later when its on the road...So whatever you do, if
you intend to keep the car, you can improve and make it better later on!.
Have a look in my Archive... some early pics, and a lot of pics of Luegos Demonstrator, which is up for sale for £13K.
I also have a lot of pics on my website Advance appologies of the poor HTML skills. Double click on the
