Viento Tracking figures
wilkingj - 16/4/06 at 08:30 PM

The manual shows the tracking as 0.5 to 1mm Toe In. (I do understand the fundamentals of tracking etc)

OK... anyone know where this is measured from and to?
Is it the difference between the frontmost and rearmost part of the Rims.
There is no info on where the measurement is to be taken.
I understand whats needed to be done, but dont know where to measure it (to and from).
A degree figure might be useful as well.

I am tempted to set it as straight until I can get it to a garage to set it up properly, but they will want the figure in degrees.
If I know where the measurements were taken from I could work out the angle.

Anyone got any Ideas??

I've been busy over the Easter break... even sent off my SVA paperwork. Dont think I will have it on the road for Stoneleigh

Keep at it... Little and often is the key.

get a couple of pieces of inch box or timber about 3 ft long and clamp together so they just touch the inside of the rim of the wheel and then transfer the clamped lenght to the front of the wheel measure again to get the difference obviously 1mm toe in would give a smaller measurement from the front of the wheel to the back of the wheel . should be plenty of room to do it underneath the car HTH

Geoff , take the measurement from the outer edges of the rim (where the tyre fits) . Any garage should be able to work using mm . Some modern gear only uses mm not degrees

Thanks Melvyn, I have them as near as dammit straight. So I now get to a garage to get it done properly.
