Any one tell me the approx length of the prop shaft they have used to mate a lt77 rover GBox to the rear diff..

Fit your gearbox, and then measure flange to flange. It will depend on where you site the gearbox. Do this first, as there is no set distance.
Its std Rover and std ford flanges. I used Bailey Morris at St Neots / Eyensbury (just off the A1 and easy to get to). Not the cheapest but nice job, and grease nipples all round. (Std ford is stakes U/J, I have circlipped at both ends. Worth changing if you intend to keep the car a very long time.

I cut away a little of the plate on the chassis so I could get it about another 1" further back. Piccies in my archive. I also fitted the central / Vertical bolt and rubber as well as the two sloping ones, as it makes for a nice stable and strong mounting. Piccies available.

Also when fitting the LT77. do it without the tunnel sides on if you can as its a PIG to get the gearlever extension back on. look at my gear lever position (interior pics) to get an Idea. Also there are some pics of the bellhousing with a tape measure against the bulkhead for an idea of placement.

With hindsight, I wouldnt have fitted the interior panels until later. and should have cut some holes in the side and then covered with hatches to do the extension lever housing.
Also dont forget to put the reverse light switch on before you install the extension. The placement is almost critical if you have the box as far back as possible.
The springs on the back of the extension only just clear the chassis upright and my brake pipes. Again piccies in archive.
It wasnt a hard job, just needed some careful positioning.
I used polybush inserts for the extension from Rimmers.. phone the order in and argue about the price, I got it reduced, as it was a silly price. it makes for a nicer change action.

As Geoff says mate. Get it all fitted and measure from the flange of gearbox and flange of diff. Give that measurement to whoever makes your prop and theyl work out the rest.

I found Dunning and fairbank to be the best price for mine and the best to deal with..

Dito to above, fit engine and box first, from memory mine was about 715mm, I got telescopic one to allow for engine movement (these also allow approx 1 1/2" of movement) and to prolong it's life.

Got my prop from Dunning and Fairbank, type nine box so no real issues. I went for the option with a larger spec as the standard are ok up to about 150bhp, but 200 bhp was bit much.
So make sure its good for your power output.

The larger spec prop does make any gearlinkage extention a bit more tricky as the uj may foul the linkage.
