Looking good....
The direction of the tread pattern seems starnge to me...I would have thought that the tread would point down towards the road... could the wheels be
on the wrong side or am I just way off track...

No they are deffo the wrong way round. The theory is right, they do displace water to the sides but the point of the triangle needs to touch down first.
Calvin, I hate to disagree with you
but i think you are wrong. As they are at the moment upon hitting a puddle the water in front of the wheel as the wheel passes over it will be pushed
towards the centre of the tyre causing the tyre to aquaplane. The tread should push the water to the outside of the tyre to clear it through the tread
pattern.
Maybe I should tell my local wheel fitters that all the wheels on my tintop have been fitted wrong aswell if you are right?!!!!!!!

That why directional tyres have an arrow pointing in the D.O.R.
to clarify the front tyres are on the wrong way round. At the moment the D.O.R arrows points toward the rear of the car.

As the tyres are designed to drive in the DOR, then surely for them to brake effectively, ie un-drive, then they must be reversed. So using my flimsy
theory, then they are the correct way round!!!
I'm also remembering my experiences with tractor tyres and how they work in reverse!!
my advice is not to drive it in the rain!
anyway the tyres we all use are very unther powered (by weight) to work the way they where designed...
imagine the weight of a normal tintop or even a stationwagon car...
to be able to drive good in the rain we need 100mm with tyres... i guess..
