can any one tell me the length of the braided hoses on a velocity xt
also were do you have the brake light switch fitted

Not sure of the braided hose lengths, but they'll be the same as you can get from any of the kit suppliers at a decent price.

The switch tends to go near the master cylinder, I assume for ease of wiring (but there might be some techy reasons for this too?). Put a short piece of coppe piping from the MC to the switch mounted on a T-piece, as part of the rear braking circuit
