Anybody had a go at putting a Cosworth engine in a Viento, or other, for that matter?

If so, what are the main stumbling blocks? Also, how hard is it to convert a 4x4 to 2wd (as there's lots more of them around)

Well if you find a gearbox from a 2wd then theres no prob, they just mate up. On a cossie i wouldnt put anything less than a t5 box cause of the power. Or if you got desperate you could get a t9 and uprate the internals using a quaife kit. Not the words of an expert btw.....

I believe the MT75 will take the power if you're keeping it pretty standard but don't take my word for it. It's certainly stronger than the type9. Apart from that the 2wd conversion should be just a case of swapping the boxes. I believe the 4WD engine is the better one of the two anyway but it may be the other way around

Re fitting - I can't see many extra problems apart from space but as you're planning on going for the Viento thats already sorted. You will need an injection fuel tank (with a return line) and obviously there will be complications with the wiring and pipework but after that it should be fine.

My suggestion would be to either search out 'Hicost' and have a chat with him (can you make it to a Newlands meet?) or have a chat with Grant or Matt at Luego - they certainly know their stuff!
