When do i need a cat fitted? is it necessary if engine can meet emissions level without one?
Any one know any good units for a seven?

Whatever the engine if it is to be subject to CAT emissions test (post Aug '95 build)at SVA or MoT it will need a CAT on it. Whilst technically possible to meet emission criteria without a CAT in practice it's almost impossible.

Hi Guys

Now reading this thread I was obviously mis-informed...

I was under the impression that if you were using an old engine (i.e. a donor one) that was pre-catalytic converters then as long as you don't try to register it on a new plate (i.e. a 56, 07 etc) then you didn't need a cat...

If I am totally wrong on that and you do then can anyone offer advice on what cats to use with a rover V8 and polished stainless steel exhausts?

If its older than 1995/4 ish then you do not need a cat....

so dont panic!!
