I have been fiddling trying to get the handbrake cable to tighten having got each side connected to the brake disk capilers (sod of job with plyers
and plenty of swearing) problem seems to be that the cable appears too long and I cant get enough pull before the handbrake is on full up lever. The
plastic nut to adjust this is on max adjustment- seems poor design - also reckon I need rivet some metal loops to the chasis rails for each side of
the cable to go through at back to stop the cable clattering around-to Any ideas?
I have not bled the brakes yet- have just tightened all of the copper joints and fitted the flexible hoses- job for next weekend- maybe I should do
this first?
I have a single resevoir for brakes and clutch so will have to be careful not to push the clutch pedal in as I dont have engine or clutch cable fitted
yet! A bit arse about face I know but hey...
thanks.
first thing is do not pull handbrake until you have sorted hydraulics out you will un wind the hand brake mechanism off the pistons not sure about viento but velocity does need hand brake cables shortening hope this helps
As above. DO NOT operate handbrake until after brakes bled AND pistons set by foot brake.
And yes handbrake will need to be shortened.
Did exactly the same thing - am now waiting until hyudraulics in place having followed advice on the forum.
Cheers
