hi folks, we have taken a 'few' hits on our standard sump so considering other options for more ground clearance or mods to the existing
one.
dont want to raise car so altering sump is only option.... any suggestions would be welcom'd
Rimmer brothers do a very expensive sump thats they claim gives more ground clearance

The range rover sump that I am using appears to be 1/4 inch shorter acording to this site

Make sump guard. I used 4mm mild steel bent to shape by getting it hot, then hitting with a sledge hammer.
It's taken all the hits under my car.

Rover P6 sump is the shallow one, then there are at least two others ie Range rover, and the SD1 sumps, all different shapes and depths.
Get an old sump, and re design it to be shallower, and longer ie full length / depth. Baffle and cover it so it doesnt slosh the oil all over the
crankshaft. Put in some baffles, or even some trapdoors, and you will have a nice, good and expensive sump. Also better for oil supply when swinging
it round the bends.
I KNOW you can make a better sump. I have seen the craftsmanship on your car. Just think and design carefully. Its not a difficult job. I would start
with a spare sump and pickup pipe, so you at least have not burnt your bridges.
Baffled sumps go for a fortune on Ebay,
You know you can do it.
PS... NO BLINGY sump either, just a good engineering job will do, as you cant see it very well
Thanks for your input and suggestions guys, i have found a good source for used sump pans and will carry out mods as jef suggested but use a slightly heavier guage of steel, (inbuilt sump guard) for the bottom to resist any further hits,( flattery will get you any where jef) many thanks.
