Cheers Matt

Optimum Balance Products - 3/11/07 at 03:58 PM

No, i am just aware of the details.

procomp - 3/11/07 at 04:09 PM

AHH i see just getting your post numbers up before you start advertising yourself.

cheers Matt

mr henderson - 3/11/07 at 06:08 PM

I think it's quite funny that a guy with a website that is advertising a business is publishing the contact details of another firm, when his own website is singularly lacking in such details!
Just an 0845 number and a mobile number. Fortunately, through the magic of Google-

"A marketing consultant from Peterborough is offering companies free consultations to establish the effectiveness of their marketing strategies, even analysing whether or not businesses are paying too much for their current advertising.
OBP have launched a performance related payment scheme, ensuring that their customers only pay when they get results, and are celebrating by offering free consultations to Peterborough businesses.
Contact: Grant Lockhead, OBP, 07947 839869 "

Perhaps, as a marketing consultant, Grant will advise people on whether or not to keep their whereabouts secret, and, like on his own website, not to tell visitors to their websites if VAT is included or not.

graememk - 3/11/07 at 06:12 PM

is there some bitching going on here ?

Simon - 3/11/07 at 06:20 PM

It could, of course, have something to do with the VAT threshold now being £64,000.

That's a lot of wishbones etc.

I dealt with Grant and Matt at Luego when they were at Ramsay Heights? and would have recommended them to anyone. OK, I know a few people got caught out, as did they I suspect.

However, Grant is trading again and while I have yet to buy anything, though I don't doubt I may do in the future, should we not give him a chance as another supplier of (from my previous purchases and therefore assumed to be) quality stuff.

Are you saying that there's no VAT to be added to the prices shown on his website? I'm surprised he doesn't say so himself if that is the case.

I personally would be very reluctant to send money to a trader who keeps his address secret, 'Peterborough area' is a bit vague

Simon - 3/11/07 at 07:07 PM

Assuming his turnover is under the threshold, then yes.

Indeed, but the thrust of the question was not to do with the mechanics of the VAT system, but whether or not they applied in the case in question.

I suppose if he had made the position clear, on his website, we wouldn't be having this discussion

tks - 3/11/07 at 08:51 PM

cant believe my eyes!

GRANT YOU STILL LIVE

he do has a good girling price!

23pounds for a master cilinder

merlinmotorsport asks 42pounds...

let anyone make his own conclusions on this one

Tks

simes43 - 4/11/07 at 10:46 AM

Having spent some time with Grant yesterday in his very well equiped workshop, the location detail of somewhere near Peterborough is very, very close to the truth.

Half an hour to get there and 45 minutes to find it.

Optimum Balance Products - 4/11/07 at 02:26 PM

Hi.

Sorry, about any confusion regarding where we are located and VAT.

The prices are inc VAT, i will get this made clear on the site.

The 08450 number is a local call rate number, so it is cheaper to call.

If you wish to visit us, this is done by prior arrangement.

The master cylinders are identical to the Girling however they are not Girling branded.

I will get the address on the site.

I hope this has cleared up any confusion.

Regards
Grant.

Quite a high price concidering you can buy the higher quality willwood ones from rally desighn for £24.50 +vat. A bit of a no brainer really.

I'm surprised at that, because virtually all of your customers will not be in a position to reclaim the VAT on any purchases, so the price they will be paying will be somewhat higher than the price you are showing (17.5% higher)

repper - 7/11/07 at 06:20 PM

i noticed that the prices rear stupid high to on the brake clipers whitch are all so from brake comp but wear about £200 moor off grant that direct off brake comp them selves

Optimum Balance Products - 7/11/07 at 07:48 PM

Hi, we were going to be the UK distributor for these brake solutions.

The prices that were set by Compbrake are the prices on our site. However as you can see, the prices were never changed by Compbrake, and that is why the agreement did not work.

We will be changing the prices very soon.

I hope this has cleared up any confusion.

Regards
Grant.

designer - 7/11/07 at 08:29 PM

Why don't you canhange the prices NOW?

Optimum Balance Products - 7/11/07 at 09:22 PM

Hi.

I can’t change them at the moment, as i have not had the new trade prices from Compbrake. I will make it a priority.

Also the web site prices include VAT.

[Edited on 7/11/07 by Optimum Balance Products]

procomp - 8/11/07 at 07:44 AM

Hi but they are not NEW prices from brake comp.

People have been paying that price for master cyls for 18 months from brake comp. There was a post on here from me about that time linking to them for that price. I will have a dig for it.

Cheers Matt

Found it. cheap master cyls post So they where charging £19.38 inc vat then. So hardly new prices.

Guys

i am not here to defend grant or his new business but lets give the guy a break. it is extremely difficult to run a business of any kind and I know he has personally been through a lot when luego went bust.
There are always going to be price comparisons in this industry the same as anyother. if he got them wrong and overpriced, tell him and he will no doubt adjust them accordingly.
I personally don't think he was out to rip anyone off in this instance but purely made a mistake.
to put my comments into context i was on the creditors list of Luego and lost money when the company went bust, so therefore could also join in the negative debate, but life goes on and sh*t happens
i would suggest we let him prove himself over time and make any judgements then
thx
ricky

Chaps...

I wasn't going to get involved in this thread but...

I dealt with Grant when I bought my kit....the reason I went for Luego in the end was to a large degree swung by Grant's enthusiastic attitude and pleasant manner.

I know that some people had an unpleasant experience when Luego went through problems...and i am very thankful that I wasn't one of them!

Grant is advertising products here (and pushing quite hard in my opinion so soon after starting posting again, but he does have a business to run...), but his prices are clearly advertised as far as I can make out.

I'm not defending him because he's a mate of mine or anything - I've only met him twice.

No one is forcing anyone to buy anything! We all have a choice.

I might be mis-interpreting this thread a bit, but I get the feeling that there is some bad feeling around...to date the Luego part of this forum has only been very friendly and upbeat - I'd hate for it to become anything less!

There is no offence meant to anyone here, I just thought I'd put my two pence worth in....

Rich.

edit - OBP, I feel that if you are going to push products you should keep it for the 'For Sale' section of the forum...from this thread it would appear that you might get some flak, and we could do without it in this section!

great to see grant back on the scene, as already said, he has a lot of enthusiasm for the kit car market
best regards from cornwall grant
look forward to see you in the future

Well said Richard I had noticed but I had hoped that a bit of common sense would prevail.
Yes it is good to see someone with enthusiasm trying to make a go of it but this whole section ( which is [IMHO] , I thought, supposed to be about all us Luego owners helping each other and bouncing ideas off each other to help with our builds and meetings etc.

Just of late it does appear to have been hijacked so that the first few threads mention/advertise a returned trader.

I have no axe to grind EITHER way over past histories, BUT, almost blatant advertising SHOULD be restricted to the for sale section(s).
