just finishing locost bec track car. Does anyone have the settings for caster, camber, and toe for the front end ?
any help would be appreciated.
The westfield site has list of suggested specs for when they set their cars up, probally a good start.
My light BEC circa 400kg has 0.5 degree toe in front and back with 1 degree negative camber. Caster is set by the wishbones, mines cortina uprights
with the top from memory 18mm further back, ride height 4.5" front 5" rear.
Feels pretty planted.
Regards Mark
Thanks Mark
the reason I was looking for caster, is that this particular locost was built by a race team and has caster adjustment, looking around the concensus
appears to be about 5 degrees , any comment?
cheers
I think the caster on mine calculates out to 7 degrees, it self centres very well, you can take your hands off at any speed, even just pushing it
around on the flat.
If you want to adjust then use rose joints instead of rubber bushes or go cheaper and source some landrover steering drag links as these have inline
adjusters that you could cut out. The metal tube is ideal for wishbones as well.

Hi 18mm set back should give about 4.5-5 deg of castor if we are talking cortina uprights.
If you have the adjustable Castor setup you would want to be trying more around the 6.5 - 7 deg for a light bec setup as a starting point.
Cheers Matt
Thanks guys,
I think the adjustment will allow about 5 ish degrees.
Off tomorrow for initial test to see what drops off. If More caster required I'll have to mod. the top wishbone over the winter.
