i have a new 1.8 zetec black top bought from ford with no engine number on it.do ineed one for iva if so how many digets do i need

The only suggestion ive seen on the subject is to go down a scrap yard and copy one, however for a new build I can't see why you couldn't make one up.

i have just gone through iva without a number
have just got log book back states no number for engine
a thats a new crate zetec

If you don't mind me asking, what did they do for emissions, did they just assume it was new?
