Having recently passed SVA, I am considering leaving registering my Indy until after the winter. Does anybody know if a pass certificate has an expiry date? VOSA say no, and DVLA say if no expiry date on certificate then no also. All sounds ok until I turn up next spring and find that I need to register within a certain time. Does anyone have experience of this?

Why not just get it all over and done with now?

You might find the process quicker also as I imagine there's a rush in spring/summer from poeple trying to get their cars on the road for the good weather (like me!)

With some of the problems others have had, it may take you until next spring to get it registered.

I had plates on the car 90 minutes after passing SVA, but I don't think this is the norm.

I would agree about getting it registered now to avoid hassle in Spring. If you don't want to use it now, is it possible to register it and put it straight on SORN? I would have thought so, but you may have to trailer it home . If they have already inspected it, no problem!

Having said all that, I got mine SVAd on 18 October last year and registered the day after, and I used it all though the winter.

I agree - took me over a month to get registered which in June was not good - half of Summer gone b4 I could get on the road, just get it done & then declare SORN. Next Spring just get up & go!!

You may find that they won't let you just complete the registration and declare SORN, Brighton DVLA would'nt let me. I needed to have at least 6 months road tax at the same time as the registration.

I guess you could cancel the road tax and declare SORN immediately after but that would incur an admin charge I believe.
