I have a pair of front struts from a Capri that need to be cleaned and cut down. The dampers are currently inside the struts.

Raw, who will modify the struts for my Striker, only need me to leave 6" of the strut above the upright. I was going to cut the struts first, and then use electrolysis to clean them.

Can I simply cut the tops of the struts with to remove the dampers, or will this cause problems/prevent proper removal of the dampers?
