Fisher Pedal Box Options
alan87 - 21/2/13 at 10:12 PM

Hi guys,

I've been doing quite a bit of research, but can't seem to see a definitive answer.

Has anyone used a different pedal box in their fury? If so what have you used?

Looking at the OBP boxes, but with some quick measurements I don't think it will fit?!?

Cheers

Alan

Suggest you speak to Steve at Fury Sportscars...

I had a look for mine which is based on the old escort pedals with the master cylinder on top. I couldn't find anything to fit so renovated what I had. If it's the old style with the sloping footwell it makes life even more difficult.

Good luck and please report back if you do find a solution!

FuryRebuild - 22/2/13 at 01:06 PM

I did a load of work on mine - and fitted an OBP box.

However, the work wasn't trivial.

There are some posts on my blog here and this forum post here

cheers
Mark

Thanks Mark,

I had seen yours already, certainly a lot of work!

I'm sure I had seen somewhere that OBP would consider making a specific fury box if there was enough interest, but I can't seem to find it anywhere!?!

Jeff, Steve was my next port of call. Are you still using the standard sylva / fisher pedals?

Hi.

Sorry to hijack, but did anyone find a pedal box that would be suitable for a fury.

I have a 2006 chassis, with the standard fisher pedal box (flimsy). I would like a new floor mounted box.
I would be quite happy with just the brake and clutch, as the throttle i have is more than adequate for the time being.

I would be after a cable clutch, and dual master cyclinder brake, with bias bar.

Any help as to what would fit would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks

Richie K

Hi Richie,

I Contacted Steve at fury sports cars, and believe there is now a better engineered version, however after the initial email I haven't heard any further.

I have however today contacted Sam at Obp to see if they would add a fisher specific box to their range.. As soon as I hear anything back I'll update this thread.

Sorry missed this, yes, still have the stock top mount.

It would be good if they could - the only thing I really changed was to narrow the box by 1" and to take a corner around. However, that was to fit my duratec footwell, rather than a standard one.

good luck.

One of the nice things about OBP and Sam was that they contacted me after I had copped my pedal box to say "cool - our director liked what you did there" which was the nicest response I could hope for.

A friendly company helps.

Wonder if something like this would be good, as I'm happy with the standard throttle.

Obviously the throttle will hang down next to the brake pedal, so may be ok.

I'd be interested in an OBP box designed for the Fury.

I was close to buying a Tilton 600 set. Tilton 3 Pedal Floor Mounted Brake Pedal Box 72-603 | eBay It's about 270mm wide, so I measured up the footwell from the outside and it should just about fit. I found one on TradeMe.co.nz for a very good price. After double checking the measurements before plonking a wad of cash on it, I realised the bottom of the footwell is only about 200mm. Even the two pedal version is too wide for that. Shame, because the Tilton pedals feel very nice.

richiekuk - 20/3/13 at 10:10 AM

I've just spoken to OBP, and they are more than happy to make a Fury specific pedal box.
They just need measurements and maybe some diagrams of exactly what we are after.

We may pay a premium for a custom box, but it could well be worth it, cost depending.

How many others would want an OBP box, and what would you want: 2 pedals (clutch and brake), 3 pedals. Hyd clutch, cable clutch?

Would it be possible for someone to get the relevant measurements, as I'm away until Easter.

Cheers.

Furyous - 20/3/13 at 07:27 PM

I'd want 3 pedals and a hydraulic clutch. My main complaint with the standard pedals is that the throttle is so flimsy. I also need to change from a cable clutch pedal to hydraulic.

I don't want the responsibility of measuring up, though. I tend to be a bit slack with measurements.

If OBP can make a custom Pro-Race pedal box for under £250, I'd buy one.

richiekuk - 20/3/13 at 07:35 PM

I wonder if they could do one where you could either have a cable clutch or hydraulic.

I don't mind measuring up, but I won't be back home until a week Friday.

alan87 - 20/3/13 at 09:33 PM

Great work, thanks for chasing up as Sam hadn't got back to me by u2u.

Definitely up for one. I would be happy with just 2 pedals but could accommodate 3.

I would want hydraulic clutch as well.

Ritchie maybe if you measure and post them on here a few of us can double check against our own chassis?

Also might be worth asking over on jpsc & Sylva chat list.

FuryRebuild - 20/3/13 at 09:56 PM

Another advantage of the obp box is that you don't have the throttle pedal protruding out, giving a hole between your feet and the engine bay. This is a fail. This also assumes you film the hole in.

richiekuk - 29/3/13 at 04:14 PM

Im hopefully going to get to the car tomorrow and take some measurements to send to OBP.

I hope they can come up trumps and do us a nice pedal box.

richiekuk - 1/4/13 at 03:21 PM

Here are my "rough" measurements. I say rough, but they are as near as makes no difference I think.

Anyone else managed to measure so we can compare, before I ring OBP.

Richie K

alan87 - 1/4/13 at 08:48 PM

Ritchie,

I should be able to get into the garage tomorrow afternoon. I'll do some measuring and let you know.

Alan

alan87 - 3/4/13 at 10:57 AM

Ritchie,

I agree with those, so unless anyone else has measured differently I would be happy to put those forwards to OPB

Thanks

Alan

richiekuk - 3/4/13 at 07:23 PM

I've had a reply from OBP.
They say a 3 pedal box would not be possible, but they have dimensions for a 2 pedal box measuring 191mm across

I, personally, would be happy with this. I would live with the top mounted throttle for the time being.

They sent me some links

Dimensions:

richiekuk - 3/4/13 at 07:29 PM

I also noticed today that the footwell floor flexes when i press the clutch. Anyone fixed this issue?

Richie K

alan87 - 3/4/13 at 07:31 PM

That looks fine to me. what price do they reckon for that?

richiekuk - 3/4/13 at 09:17 PM

They linked me to a page on their website, so I imagine the price would be as per that.

Furyous - 7/4/13 at 05:58 AM

Does someone want to buy one of the two-pedal boxes and check the fit? I compared the measurements of the box with my foot well and it looks like the pedals would only be about 10mm to the right of what they currently are. I've modified the standard throttle pedal so it's mounted on bearings. I won't be able to mount it properly for a little while but it should be a lot smoother and more stable than using a wobbly bolt.

richiekuk - 8/4/13 at 12:26 PM

Ive just given my standard pedal box, and a 3D card template of what i want, to the guys at Metal workshops here were I work.

I'm going to see what they can come up with before I spend any money on an OBP box.
Hopefully the guys here can come up with the goods, and save me lots of pennies.

Ive also tee'd it up to all be powder coated, once finished.
Hopefully i'll have it back by the end of next week.

Here is the pedal box ready to be fitted tomorrow
