Had an idea the other day for unique vehicle graphics. Then when I looked round, I found one other company that did them.
Here's a few examples to look at,
Basically, what I want to know is, do any of you like them and would anyone be (provisionally) interested in something like this if I start doing
them? I'll also be doing standard domed badges too for those that want a 'locost' badge.
I like the look of them... especially the Viper one
Might be a while off wanting one though!

I'm not after orders mate, just an idea as to how popular they will be. There's loads I can do with this stuff, tribals etc...
We used to make some window decorations at home similar in appearance to that. Mix paint with pva glue and spread it into the shape you want on a piece of glass then when it sets peel it off. Never tried anything too elaborate though, just stuff to amuse the kids when they were younger
This is polyester resin mate. Lasts years and is UV resistant. It is domed onto vinyl (standard signmakers stuff) after it's cut on the machine.
Then Sticks to the vehicle like any other sticker. The stuff that is 'clear' is actually vinyl the same solour as the vehicle so it looks
like it's vaccum formed.
The vinyls available are endless and the designs mind boggling!!
Roughly whats the cost of them?

Nah
I've got a Burberry Bonnet
That's the thing, I've not started it yet so cost and so on hasn't been worked out.
I'm just looking at the interest side - which seems to be quite high at the moment!!!
These will hopefully be done, as off the shelf standards such as Manufacturer badges and 16v or GTi logos and then the custom stuff seperate.
The guy I watched doing these (met him at the sign show yesterday at the NEC) was telling me he charges by the hour and some of his prices were....
RIDICULOUS!!
I'll look into cost myself though as it' a wierd one to work out, it may have to be on a per job basis.
Let me have a play with the stuff and I'll come back with ideas on price.
Mike,
That snow is hanging aroud a long time in Newcastle - you should get your shovel out!
I like the look of those too...
I used to make things similar to this (ex signmaker) If you need any info on hardware and software I'm possibly your man
Incidentally, the vinyl is usually cut first, the excess peeled away and then the two-pack resin is applied (relying on surface tension to provide a
domed shape) The whole lot is then transferred onto application tape which holds everything in place while it is positioned on the4 substrate.
The tricky bit is applying the right amount of resin or you just end up in a right mess. Looks really cool when done right though
Any better Andy.
Been throwing it down for days
Mike
P.S. Thanks Chris for the image.
Ha Ha Mike...
been dry up here...
