Newbie from Aberdeen

Hello, I recently stumbled across your site in my pursuit for a kit car.
Im from Aberdeen and was wondering if there are many others up this way? Looking through the meets forum, it seems like central Scotland is the nearest place for meets. How often are they held?

Im just after advice and info on what sort of thing to look for in a kit before I splash the cash.

Also, as I seem to live at the wrong end of the country for popping to the manufacturers to see them, are there any up-coming shows where I could see all the common kit suppliers ( MK, MNR, Luego etc) in one go?

I'm in Fraserburgh but haven't started building yet unless you count the pile of drawings and research etc in front of me.
There are a few others in the area i'm sure they'll let you know who they are.

looks like we have enough for a get together in the better weather. I will post something in a few weeks to gather interest.

Not building a locost, but finishing off an Eagle SS in Old Aberdeen (round the corner from the University).

Based around Cortina bits and a 1600 Pinto, once it is running you are welcome to come and have a look.

Cheers,

Ed

Aye, I quite fancy a trip to the hillclimb. Would be nice to meet some others.

Dave - are you sometimes on telly selling antiques, rather impressive tan??????

Welcome to the undisputed champion of madhouses! Im a long way south of Aberdeen and still feel remote from where a lot of the action takes place. Stoneleigh is coming up, im told very worth a venture. There will be others from Scotland going so you may be able to share some petrol costs.
I was in same predicament as you last August / Sept. All i can say is go to the shows and talk to people. Shortlist and if poss visit the manufactureres at 'home'. Costs are a nightmare to work out, i gave up in the end and went for something good with strong aftersales support.

HTH,
Darren (Durham area).

Just for the record, I have never, to the best of my knowledge, said "cheap as chips" !

I will try to organise a little jaunt down south for a long weekend or similar and have a peek at a couple of factories and see whats what.

As for the hillclimb, I now have another commitment sadly.
