New person dropping in
T11MNM - 18/6/08 at 02:15 PM

Is this the right place? If not it's too late now, haha

I live in sunny south yorkshire and am looking to take on a Mac#1 9R over the winter as a first build.

I've always been interested in engineering and kit cars and i'm in the fortunate position to be able to afford and have the spare time to carry out the task.

I plan on attending the kit car show in newark this weekend so that should give me a better idea of what i'm looking at.

I currently own a Single Turbo Mazda RX7 which will unfortunatley have to make way for the Kit.

I hope to make use of the search function before posting random crap

Welcome to the Mad House,

I'm sure you'll find the help you need on here, Newark is a good starting point, plenty of people to talk to and plenty of other kits to look at, Dont iron out the MK or other kits like MNR etc.

I'm sure Newark will help you make your mind up! Be sure to have a ride in a BEC and a CEC before you make your engine choice, you wont be dissapointed with a BEC!! (Running for cover!!)

Mike

Thanks guys, i've been out in a CEC Westfield in the past but never BEC, as the BEC is what i've got my heart set on could anyone spare half an hour one weekend to scare the living crap out of me?

I see a few BEC's driving around doncaster so if anyone is local and has some spare time please let me know.

Is it just my perception or are there a disproportionate number of forum users in Yorkshire?

If I get bored, I'll start a poll to see where people are.

TC

P.S. Welcome.

Welcome to the forum.

Call into the Mac#1 owners area for a chat. Should be a good selection of cars there.

You've defiantly come to the right loony place.

There's tons of good cars round Yorkshire and a lot of manufacturers.

Don't rule out the MNR, Mac#1, Indy or the Procomp

All have their pro's and cons, also don't rule out a CEC as you'll see when my turbo charge Rover engined MNR comes flying past

Cheers,
Steve

Ah, another from sunny Donny
Where are you..if you ever need help or just inspiration give us a shout. Built 2 crossflow cars, you're welcome to come round and have a look / cup of tea (although mine's off the road at the mo waiting for an MOT)

procomp - 19/6/08 at 01:44 PM

Hi talking of donny ( I know you meant Doncaster ).

There is a trackday at Donnington park on the 18 July. There will be cars from many of the manufacturers there and i am sure you will get a passenger ride in both a BEC and a CEC. This will give you a better idea of what each manufacturers cars really handle like as well as a more realistic idea of the comparison of BEC v CEC.

Oh and welcome to the mad house as they say. It certainly is mad round here.

Cheers Matt

T11MNM - 19/6/08 at 06:30 PM

The trackday at donnington sounds like a good bet, thanks for the heads up. Ive driven the track a number of times in a tin top so seeing it from a kit car must be fantastic.

I live in Skellow, so north of Doncaster
