Hi, i have just assembled my Type 9 gearbox to my 1.8 zetec slivertop (from 1993 escort, using the escort/zetec flywheel, clutch and pressure plate with a spiggot bearing and its gone straight on, very easily. BUT.............should i be albe to move the clutch fork with my hand easily ?????

No, unless your arm is as strong as your left leg with the pedal ratio.

The arm should just pull up to the release bearing. Is it very loose? Got the correct release bearing?

it from a sierra.... should the bearing just press against the leaves of the pressure plate ?

You should be able to move the bearing up to the clutch by hand yes, but to actuate the clutch by hand is impossble without leverage.

Probably too short, you need a Capri release bearing which has a longer nose.

when you bolt up the pressure plate to the flywheel should the leaves of the pressure plate be sticking out or flat?

Ive never been sure about this as my car has a mondeo clutch and a standard sierra release bearing and seems to work fine even though i have read many times that it needs the capri bearing.
