tompat3463 - 11/7/11 at 08:27 PM

as the titlr really..

My indy blade ir really lacking power (i think) when I accellerate hard.

It sounds really lumpy and rough.. I really cany explain it any other way.. ]

Its the 919 and is running on a sausage filter into the engine bay (no airbox)

its started doing it when I took the carbs off to clean. could I have disrupted something when doing this ?

Also. How do I know if my carbs need balanced ?? and how do I do it ?

Tia alan

Also.. I bought a set of carbs for another blade project I'm running and with the carbs came a dynojet kit. with loadsa different sets of needles.

How on earth do I know what needle to use on different applications ??

I.e For my car setup with sausage filter into engine bay which jets would people recomend ??

Cheers ALan

Craigman9 ... How ecactly do U use the balancers ???

Craigman9 - 11/7/11 at 08:41 PM

I have only done it on mine car which is a cec (as Tom mentioned ) with ZX9R carbs.

On my inlet manifold there are four screws which need to be taken out and then the tubes from the balancing kit connected. Then it's a case of starting the engine and looking to see the vacuum that each of the cylinders pulls. Give it a little rev etc and just balance them out using the screws for the carbs ( I have no idea what the correct name of this is).

Don't forget number 3 carb is the base carb and shouldn't be adjusted unless of course you've messed around with it and number 3 carbs vacuum reading is the base for the other 3

There is normally only 3 adjusting screws, you balance carbs 1+2 (LH adjusting screw) then carbs 3+4 (RH adjusting screw) then you adjust the central adjusting screw which balances the two pairs.

As mentioned already make sure to blip the throttle after each adjustment of the screws to settle the spindles back to their normal postion.
