can someone please put a list of what is needed to run bike carbs on a pinto
carbs
manifold
fuel pump
vacless dizzy
easy as that
what is mega jolt, that people talk about with bike carbs
over the top thats what it is.
its a pinto at the end of the day its an old school engine so i kept it simple and used a distributor to sort the sparks instead of a magajolt.
as you dont need fuelling i see no real reason to complicate things with an ecu
cheers mate
no probs i have loads of pics of mine if it helps
isn't the fuel pump optional?
i used a bike pump as the fuel needs pumping in the right way for the bike carbs and this was the easiest way.
Have a look in my photos under zx9r carbs

Seconded above statments! They really don't cost that much, very, very easy to install and will make a huge difference to how the car drives. It prob wont add much in terms of bhp but it will make the car a lot more driveable with a better throttle response and more torquey. Its pretty simple too - well I think its more simple than dizzy's as you don't have to worry about things like points and rotor arms - oh yeah and of course you don't have to time it up the same as a dizzy! Oli.
Talking of Bike carbs,,, the ones I have seam to squirt a bit of fuel out of the air inlet side , that then gets me in the face while booting it
is this right ?? or should I have a filter box fitted ??
I believe the carbs are R6, moddied by, and fitted to a Bogg Bros manifold .
Cheers
Jason
The fuel they kick out is known as stand off. It happens on all carbs IIRC. Can't remember the actual reason for it happening, but basically a cloud of fuel sits in front of the carb mouth and hangs in the air for a moment before either getting sucked back in or dropping away. You could see it happening on the bird engine if you took the filter off. Looks quite funky on the drive.
