Why oh fu*king why, not going to stoneleigh in the kit now, All fixed i hope

Thought i would get a few miles on the car before i make my trip to stoneleigh, so done about 100miles in it so far.

Well i was blatting about this morn, done about 40 miles and was only a couple of miles from home i get a stutter from the engine and then it stops

Cant get it re started so start to have a look at what the prob could be and it looks like my fuel pump is shot

So i wont be able to bring my car to the show on monday and was looking forward to it.

Well at least it didnt stop on the mororway but is a right propper pain.

Am going to have to take the tin top to the show now.

Who can guess what is going to be on the top of my shopping list now?

Tommy

yeah just phone around autosaves/halfords or motorfactors and buy one, plenty cars have electric full pumps not in the tanks, landys, MG's, triumphs etc etc

Mine got stuck- i took it out, thumped it a few times and a big gout of fuel came out with whatever was jamming the pump. Refitted it (with a cheapie halfrauds filter as a pre-filter) and hey presto- its working fine. It was prob a snot of ally from the tank that i didn't managed to flush out after i'd made it. Try the same with yours- it might fix it- you've nowt to lose by sticking it across a battery and giving it a whack

If you've not got a filter between the tank and pump it's probably pulled some sort of crap in. Hope you didn't use any silicone to seal anything on the tank. That has a habit of causing problems.

Bags of time (provided you haven't hidden the pump in a place that necessitates the entire disassembly of the car)!

PS - I recommend driving the tin-top anyway. Allows you to bag more goodies to take home with you (and they won't blow-away on the journey home)!

I saw your car, but didnt get to see / meet you.
Car looked good.

That pre-filter probably saved you £50 on a new pump. I bet it made it worth fitting.

Glad you could make it.
Cheers
