Pics of the new Locost

Hi guys

further to my last post I bought the car.... Yes it does need TLC but thats what I have time to do and enjoy doing to make it my own...

I have posted a few pics of it that I took today, Im going to make a new dash for it at work so thats sorted, I am going to get some 45's this week some point and get them fitted and mapped. Eventually I will take all the arms off, sand blast them at work and get them painted.

The car drives really well and pulls even better, I dont like the wheels so I will be selling them shortly (17x7jET40)

My questions:

I have also posted pics of the steering rack, arms bushed joints etc if anyone could tell me what they are from so I know for when I need spared I'd appreciate it.

Where can I get a bonnet from ??

Many thanks, Yodi

Looks nice, even better with my favourite engine.

Interested in the wheels if and when you sell them too

Wheels will be available soon enough They need painting though as whoever painted/powder coated them didnt sand the original silver down first so they are flaking.

oh and bushes are polybush... i'd just pull them out and measure them. Then just ask a polybush seller for that size...

Yeah, best to make your own....

I think you have an old caterham nose cone and could be home made scuttle....

So finding a bonnet that fits would be interesting !

Use the old bonnet as a template. Any bits you are unhappy with (uneven cuts, etc) can be marked and removed in the template.

The problem you have is your engine is quite high.... and comes through the bonnet. Meaning you have that "bonnet bulge" which is quite big!! might be possible to lower the engine slightly. or raise the chassis rails up and inch, raising nosecone, bonnet and scuttle up enough to miss the engine

I have the same chassis / engine as you - look at the pics in my archive for comparison - my engine will also sit pretty high, but not as high as yours is - my bonnet is going to need a bulge to accomodate it - the velocity bonnet come with one as standard - I think it should fit the Luego locost, but don't quote me on that!!! - Get on to Ben at Luego for detailed info.

Btw, your car looks pretty good, but the dash is the work of someone rushing to get it finished!! There is a nice thread under interior trim with loads of dash pics for inspiration when you come to do yours.

Regards, Steve.

Only if it matches up to the nosecone and scuttle

Just had a look, maybe you'll be lucky. The Luego nose looks a lot like the caterham one... Just legally different....just

Thanks guys

As for the Dash, its the only thing i'll see once driving so it will look brilliant compared to what's in there now, im also putting new gauges in it and a bigger rev counter as thats the most important one for me...

how low is the sump? - has it been shortened?

The main thing I did to lower my engine was to remove the gearbox mount and put it below the chassis rails instead of on top. See the pic...
