I am going to start building in Sept and have priced stuff up at ~£6k. But then I'm a carbon fibre tart! Quite a few of the packs (eg
intruments, seats, lighting) can be bought from other suppliers cheaper to bring the price down. Problem is you then see a much wider range of parts
and want to spend even more!!

Mine just completed, cost me 6K all in. That was with new wheels, fancy dash, very expensive XFlow, all new everything else. But now it's on the
road, worth every penny

When I first started pricing everything up I cam to 6-6.5K, soo gone up though!!!

Looking at your prices, they look about right in most cases. Lights, exhaust look high but generally looks like you have done youre homework.
I would suggest that in most cases people dont do this sort of in deapth assesment and normally end up way over budget !
Ok Ok, before you guys start posting saying how you built yours for £3.68 using parts from 1962 butchers vans, I know this is a different beast in
that it will look like new when finished and this is the sort of money it really costs

My exhaust is pricey because no one seems to make one for the vauxhall off the shel other than SBD which is £500 + VAT just for the manifold.
What I have been reading is that it is crazy fitting a powerful engine, and then strangling it with a cheap exhaust.
If anyone know where I can get a good system for less money then please tell me.

yukspeed do a weld togther yourself kit for around £120.
Also checkout which kit as they've just finished a build of a velocity with a vauxhall in it.

From my costing up of things, I think it would be very difficult to build a velocity for less than 7k.
I've spent 3k so far, with lots still to go.
I think you could get by with 6k, but only if you did
things like:
Got some cheap wheels and tyres, or
kept original steel wheels.
Used instruments from donor.
Used brake callipers from donor. ( but I guess
most people consider this an area where they
definitely want to be very confident that everything is right!)
Used the engine from the donor.
Its the odds and sods which really add to the cost,
things like paint, sealant, fixings, drill bits, rebuild
parts for donor bits, oils, fluids etc etc.
I do get the impression that a lot of the costings
are not very thorough, and tend to assume that
you have every possible tool, nut, bolt and
item in an aerosol can available for free!

HOW MUCH!!!
So far I've spent about £9.5k - but then I have gone for Recond parts from Kit Fit @ Newark, Quaife Gearbox, Superlight Alloys, Yoko Tyres,
Stack Instruments, Toyota engine, Omex Ignition, Twin 45 Webers and the list goes on!!!
Just don't tell the wife!!!

Rons book says £250.
This is not going to please the wife.

I am aiming for 3k. Everything second hand. I bought most of the stuff (chassis, wishbones, brakes, shocks (worth £300) & springs, steering rack,
diff, driveshafts, hubs, uprights f&r, engine and everything to make it run inc. manifold, scuttle and nosecone) for £900 in a package, which I
think is a bargain and worth twice that.

not built one but its not really how much you spend, you could spend 20k but if you dont do it right it will look like a 20p toy from china.

i've got to 3.5k already and have at least another 1500 quid to go before i'll be anywhere near happy with it and thats with buying all
the parts and having recon work done at trade prices.
never buy a part built kit!!!!!
