Aluminium Rad

Hi everyone

having an engine overhaul at the moment and whilst taking the rad out I did notice its not in the best of condition
has anyone changed to a aluminium one ?

can you share any info (sizes and prices) recommend where to go.

The cheap polo/golf type are used a lot. Have a look on fleabay for sizes, but they start about £25ish...
Will depend on engine and current rad etc, hoses may need altering but plenty of choices.

https://www.adrad.co.uk/car/radiators/ have the sizes on their site.

My Zetec works fine with VW334 golf 1.4 /1.6 some forget to close gap between rad and nose cone.

Polo rad used by some is VW 303 1100 / 1300 ...... 1983 / 1990 both about £30.

I got the VW302E one from a polo, got it brand new on ebay for £29 delivered. 

Here's who i got it from: 

Ebay name: coolpartsuk 

Fits: 
Seat Terra - 900 - 1989 onwards. 
Volkswagen Derby - 1.0 - 1983 to 1990. 
Volkswagen Polo - 1.0 - 1983 to 1990. 

Suitable for: 
Manual vehicles, without air conditioning. 


Useful information: 
Our part number - VW302E. 
Original Seat / Volkswagen part number(s) - 867.121.253 F. 
Approximate core size - 380mm x 320mm.

IIRC I used the VW302E rad on my 2.0 Pinto engine MK Indy. Didn't cost that much, fitted into the MK nose cone and worked just fine.

For future reference - Polo dimensions but different core thickness available - run a 70 mm core one in the Velocity.

Held the 3litre V6 at 85-90 degrees whatever the weather or traffic conditions
