luego accelarator cable and accelator pedal
Well thought i do something simple today but no nothings simple is it !
I have a 1.6 pinto fitted in my luego locost i bought the pedals from luego and the cables and i am trying to fit the accelator pedal .
The cable is labelled up as being a peugeot citroen and renault cable various cars from twingo to clio , so the instructions are useless and luego
haven't any with there build manually and being that im not to cleaver im a bit stumped.
Can anyone help please !

Look in my Archive, and look under the Luego Demonstrator area. There are a lot of under the bonnet pictures, including close ups of the accelerator
pedal and the cable.
You are building a Locost, so may have to improvise a bit. There are all the build docs on the Luego Site. The Velocity docs show the pedals, as do
the viento Docs. Its the same pedal set up.

Hi thanks for replying i have been using the velocity build manual for the most of my build and it does say anything about this and i cant find any
pics of it.
I have looked in you archive and found close ups of the pedal side of the cable and i still cant work out whats going on because i dont think we have
same bits as you got .
Is there a hole in the top of the pedal which the cable is passed through a notted ? and it looks like the top of the pedal has been cut down the
centre section whats that for ?
On the carb side of the cable i cant see any of the connections that came with the luego cable that are gonna fit, i do have half of the old cable
still connected to the carb should i cut my new cable and connected it to this part somehow or does that sound a bit bodgey?
Help me someone help me please !

yup there is a slot in the pedal lever at the top, I had to cut mine. The there is also a hole drilled above it.
The cable goes in the vertical slot, and a split pin or R clip to stop it coming out.. Cut the cable to length, and prevent it fomr sliding back
through the hole. ie a lug, or mini buldog grips etc etc.
The Carb end needs something to fit to the carb, and will depend on what engine / carbs you have.
Building a kit car involves a lot of thought, inovation, and some fabrication. There are often several ways of doing a job, and they could be all
different!!.
Its part of the fun.
Its taken me 3 whole days to mount two fans and a Radiator in the nose cone of my Viento.. so many fits, trail fits, adjustments, modifications and
final fits.. Its right now, but took 3 days to get there. I had to make up and weld new brackets, cut up the ones that came with the fans (new fans
off some car, dont know what,) .
Did you not realise what kit car building entails?
I have built two Land Rovers from the concrete up, and was a darn sight easier than the Viento. The parts fitted (with the normal 2" Landrover
Tolerances! ) as they were made for the vehicle. Kit cars only the basic kit is made for the car, all the other bits is either pay a high price
from the manufacturer, or "adjust" something else you got cheap or from the scrap yard!
Hope it all goes well.. I do understand your problem. I'v been there many times !

I know kit car building involves some fab work and alot of it to...
We bought dax rush panels for our luego locost thinking they would look great and no planningg went into that i can tell you cause they didnt fit and
so we had to kit our nose cone in half , which was painful, and fibreglass them back together we eventually got it to fit so sent panels away got a
beatiful orange paint job which we were ever so happy with then when fitting our pinto realised that the nose cone and bonnet wouldnt fit due to the
height of the pinto... oh joy !
So from that you can probably guess how smart we are so sorry if the problem seems petty but we have since learnt this is the best source of knowledge
out there and whenever we become stuck were straight on the net to try and resolve our problem before trying to bodge it !

Ans = cos there is loads of knowlege and experience here.. I ask questions as well.. I dont know it all either
Dont feel bad or guilty... Its what we are all here for... the info to get our cars finished and on the road.

Hi Geoff
You say you had trouble with fitting of the rad??, whaat type of rad r u using?, only i am after a rad for my viento and the standard xr4 one is too
wide to fit in.
My local rad repairer says he can modify it ie shorten it for about £30, unless there is an alternative!

I took the more expensive route and snapped one up in Luego's Winter sale.
I believe the Land Rover 200 Tdi Rad is a very simmilar size. but depends on what Engine you have. mines a V8, so need a Big One.
The Luego one is quite a tight fit, even in the bigger Viento nose cone. So take care if buying or modding one.. Measure 10 times CUT ONCE!
