Velocity XT Rear Hub (Drum Brakes)

Has anyone assembled these rear uprights and hubs???? Luego suggest that the backplate is spaced off the upright (because of the shape of the backplate) with washers, but I have shown a spacer on my (playgroup style)drawing. Due to the way the shaft outer joint sits the hole in the upright is a good 4-5 mm too small since the shaft MUST go though to a certain extent. Has anyone made this hole bigger...or are our shafts a bigger diameter???

All advice gratefully received, I can tell you........

The shafts on the 3.14 diff I had were strangely slightly bigger - I'd never heard of any mention of this before, but maybe your shafts are the same? Regardless, I can't see any reason not to make the hole bigger if the shafts wont fit.
