Extra Radiators

Whilst at Donnington I was discussing my perenial subject of cooling the beast.

One of the suggestions which I am investigating is the heater take off.

Clive mentioned using a mini heater and venting it underneath.

I've purchased a motorbike rad off of ebay for £1 including fan. Could anybody think of any reasons why things may go pear shaped.

Thinking about mounting it in the underside airflow.

Good to see everybody at the show !

Can't think of any reason why not to apart from possible damage being mounted so low - but then it was only £1?!
Gotta be worth a punt right??? Oli.

I have also been thinking about a second small radiator as my buget could not match the luego price for a V8 rad.

so far I have fitted a volvo 740 alluminium rad ( just !!! )) at the front and was planning a second rad infront of the passinger bulkhead possibly venting out the side or via ducting .

The other area I was thinking of altering was the water pump. I think the vovo rad will work at speed with a High flow rate but at low revs the water pump is too slow so I may change to using an electric pump that I can increase the flow rate on at low speed

This is some one who knows very little about cooling experimenting...So non of these ideas may work!;

Used water wetter but after fitting the new rad ducting I still get to 95 after a run, Donnington to Peterborough, and would be very nervous in standing traffic.

There's a few places out there that will recore an existing radiator not that much (i.e. cheaper than luego)

A friend did just that with his RV8 Chimera and the difference in cooling was astounding.

Take a look in the TVR section on Pistonheads - I'm sure a suggestions will become apparent.

If you don't have any luck, u2u me and I'll try and dig out the info and some approx costs.

Not sure how the V8 stacks up against a 2.9i V6, but I fitted a Landy 2.5 TDI rad, and that has been well up to the mark. Mind you fan still runs when stuck in traffic, but thats why it's there. The V6 does/is a very hot running engine, so may be worth a look at the Landy rad. Plus I have fitted a switch to overide the fan if things get interesting, but have never had to use it. atb Ray.
