Velocity pedal box

Hi!,
I need a bit of help if possible please....I bought my chassis as an unstarted project and the pedal box I have was already stripped down. I have a gold pedal box with a hydraulic clutch. I have two things I need to get cleared up.

1. I think the three master cylinders are different but I need to know which one is for front and which one for the rears.... This will then also tell me which one is for clutch.

2. I could do with a picture showing the bias bar assy and also how the clutch [edal attaches to the clutch master cylinder. The angle looks all wrong now that I have fitted the box in the car.

thanks
Dave B

Dave, when i got mine i was told the cylinders were the same for the front and rear - not 100% certain, but it did get through SVA.

Not sure about the clutch, i've got a cable on mine.

Hi Dave

On the luego web site it says .
fit the .625”Girling master cylinder to the O/S of the pedal box , front brakes .
Fit the .7” Girling master cylinder to the N/S ; this will operate the rear braking system.
& i think it should then leave you a 0.75 for the clutch .

Hope this helps

Clutch

I fitted a hydraulic clutch to my Viento.

The size and volume of the master cylinder depends on the stoke and volume of the slave cylinder, but the larger the master the more chance of full cluth operation.

I used a .75" but the slave was from an Alfa Romeo, i had to insert spacers to prevent over filling or pushing the slave cylinder.

Sorry if this does not help much, but its all i've got.

Pedal box

This shows using a clevis pin above the pivot point of the clutch pedal.

This would work just as well in a velocity.

Just looking at my pipe runs and I would prefer to swap over the cylinder positions. Will this give me a problem with the bias bar set up. Turn the bar round maybe........

Shouldn't need to turn the bias bar around . It's only a threaded bar with a ball in the center. It will need adjusting and then locking for SVA.

Lock the ballance bar with Roll pins through the nuts for SVA.

Make sure the front wheels lock up on hard braking before the rears, its a good starting point for the ballance.

Dont have the locknuts hard up against the trunnions, as it prevents the balance bar from moving (Failed my second SVA on that)

Luego site is correct for the master cylinder sizes. Just means you have to adjust the balance bar less than with two cylinders of the same size.

My 2d worth..

The bar may be different length either side but when adjusted I had to shorten to clear the clutch pedal . Suspect that old Luego used to just buy the in from another source

Just thought I would get a bit more info on the clutch cylinder on the Luego pedal box. Mine is all fitted now but the cylinder now has a preload on it...what I mean is that the cylinder cannot fully retract and the stroke stops before the pedal hits anything. Anyone set up similar and have they damaged the cylinder. I think the stroke is still long enough for my burton slave cylinder.

I shortened all the cylinder rods to keep the pedals in line and give me a bit extra leg length. Brake cylinders seem fine!
