supplier problems
I recently bought a windscreen and had it posted to me. When I unwrapped it I discovered that both of the bottom corners were broken. I also noticed
that there was no sign of any glass fragments in the screen frame or packaging. I contacted the supplier to ask how we resolve this and he said that
it was tough luck. Now I feel more than a little miffed about this as it was £140 hard earned pounds that has effectively bought me a aluminium
frame. Is there anything I can do?

You pay by credit card?
That would be an easy way to get your money back!

Get trading standards involved. Say the item was not of a sellable quality and explain in detail the problem esp how no glass fragments in wrapping
(best if you still have the original wrapping. CC a copy to the vendor. Should sort things out.

Tell him if he doesn't sort you out with a replacement you will;
a) Report him to Tading Standards as not of merchantable quality and not fit for the purpose for which it was sold.
b) Name and shame in every car builders/enthusiasts forum/magazine.
Tell them about the bent treacle edges!

Do not threaten to name and shame. Go directly to Trading standards, do not pass go, do not get done for blackmail. Papers get around this all the
time by saying a friend of X celeb recently said that she said . . .. which is why our papers are rubbish.

It's up to the seller to get the goods to you in good order.
He didn't do that, I'd go with "insufficiently packaged" 'cos if they'd packed it right it'd have got there
in good shape.
Small claims court actions can be started online for a small fee HERE , if
the supplier is a business, he'll probably have to appear at your local court.

I want to thank everybody for there helpful advice, I will be going back to the supplier armed. I don't however feel that I should name and
shame, it doesn't sit comfortably with me. I would recommend checking delivery conditions though.

Dead right mate!... Last thing you need is their solicitors hounding you with a Slander / Libel Writ.
What ever you say or worse still write down has to be correct if you are to avoid possible legal action against you.
After all this is a public area, and you never know who is listening / reading.
I know I have been on the recieving end once. Its not a nice feeling at all.

I had this with some damaged patio furniture. The vendor said that as I didn't unpack it before signing for it then he wouldn't pay. I
reminded him that the best that most delivery firms do is to chuck the stuff at you and run. After that I reminded him that he could have a chat with
my Credit Card company if he wanted to talk further. After e-mailing some photo's of the damage and the crap packaging I got a phone call an
hour later stating that it wasn't worth his while paying for return postage and asked if I would dispose of the damaged stuff and gave me a
refund.
I disposed of the damaged stuff on my patio with the new stuff
