Viento 0>60 in 5 Secs

The other night when me and the youngest were out in the viento. My lad asked me what the 0>60 time was. His mates dad has a Dutton, a Caterham, and a Lotus Exige, and had asked my boy what the 0>60 time was.
I had not got a clue, so we found a bit of quiet road, and done a couple of runs, one pulling away second and the other in first (more wheelspin in first gear so I dont use it much).
Both were about 5.0 secs, and difficult to be absolutely exact as it was an analogue watch, and I have never tried a 0>60 run before!

The result is that I am well pleased.
1. its not a bad time. (OK BEC's are quicker)
2. Its better than most cars.
3.The engine is only VERY roughly set up. I am waiting for time on Pete Baldwins Rolling Road (The mini Racer chap) so when I have done that I will try again and see what happens.

Its still pretty awesome to drive... Just cant stop smiling when I drive it.

I think the best way is with a sat nav device and a vid camera. I think yours is down closer to 4.5 secs.

Rich.

The Sound Equipment is rather ancient... circa 1984. Its an old 8 track!! but still performs very well indeed well. CD audio is too tinny and thin. Lots of glowing valves give a much more rounded and mellow soundtrack.
Yup.. a V8Track is definately the best Automotive Audio-Sexual Experience on the block

If you want a comparison then a fairly standard Striker weighing 530kg with a 1600cc Toyota lump will be in the low 5s. Less mass to shift but of course less torque too.

Yep a BEC really should be in the 4s without too much effort.

Geoff, maybe its time to update your avatar to reflect the current state of your car (ie finished!)
I think there's a couple of good pics from the newlands meet when you were all kitted up that would be good if you haven't got any other pics yet? (or better an excuse to find some nice roads and get someone to take some )

Ned.
