tank sump or swirl pot

On my inj pinto rh 2b i suffered fuel starvation until i fitted a 2nd pump + swirl pot. On the viento there is less room under the boot floor so i was thinking about welding a sump on the tank, has anyone done this? If so how big did you make it?
I'm going to have a full size boot so a sump would help save space.

I hope there's been no fuel in the tank before as I tried welding up my Cortina tank and despite flushing it for ages with soapy water and then filling it up to the brim with water, it still went bang!!! You should have seen the jet of water that came out the filler pipe

Have it on mine. Never had a problem. Is about 6cm deep and measures roughly 10 by 10cm. Welded under the tank with a 3 cm diameter hole in the main tank.

On my first seven I put the return feed into this sump. That was a mistake; the fuel got very hot.

If the tank has had fuel in it you will have to go for an external one, else you risk blowing your self up...

Thanks,
its a new luego tank so no risk of explosion. Getting someone to do the welding will probably be cheaper than buying a 2nd pump + pot.
6cm deep should still be out of sight.
