Donnington show and Journey Home
Was disappointed in Donnington, having to drive over a mile on lose gravel was one ball ache to start with.
Anyhow, goog turn out of Luego's, didn't get chance to speak to anyone as I had to get bck early. (I wish)
On the way back I notice a whine develop from what seemed like the gear box, being on the motorway I couldn't just stop so I continued albiet at
a more moderate pace with the intention of stopping at the next services.
Eventually the whining got v loud and without warning went with a bang and locked the back wheels up. Fortunately I was in the middle lane at the time
and didn't cause too much panic.
Rescue came from Dad, to get the car to free wheel we had to take the driveshafts off!! as the gearbox had locked solid.
Although I've not had the gearbox out yet it would seem somehow it's emptied itself of oil as the underside of the car is covered in it.
You are able to select gears tho.
My question is do I buy another (second hand) or get this one recon'd, bearing in mind LT77 boxes are like rocking horse sh#t.
Aplogies for the longwinded message.
Cheers

Rebuild it then you know what you have.
UNDERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the front of the car.
OVERSTEER is when you hit the wall with the rear of the car.
HORSEPOWER is how fast you hit the wall.
TORQUE is how far you take the wall with you.

you should be able to get LT77 boxes easily on ebay. I recently sold 3 for £50 each. Why did I have3? Everyone told me I'd have trouble but I
sprinted and hillclimbed for 3 years and never a murmer!!!

What I was thinking, Anyone know of any transmission places round Yorkshire. The only concern I have is that is it going to be reconditionable,
I've managed to get it to turn (just!! - with extreme force), sound and feels bad, and gears are difficult to select, which I initially though
were OK.
Cheers

Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

will have drive to carcroft tomorrow
yep, that was me. Strangely because obviously time was of the essence as PC plod was almost certainly gonna arrive, which would have meant recovery
people and lots of money being exchanged, 15mins after my dad arrived the southbound side came to a complete halt and the north (which I was on) had
zero cars. Obviously an accident further south I suspect.
1 hour later (driveshafts were a swine to get off!!!! - in fact a complete arse when you can't move the wheel to desired position) we sets off -
guess what, northbound traffic resumes. Duely exited at next jct and went home via B roads

A bit too late but disconnecting the propshaft only involves 4 bolts.
yours, Pete
I went into the RSPCA office the other day. It was so small you could hardly swing a cat in there.

Propshaft can't be disconnected from above transmission tunnel, only from the bottom, and the car needs to be at least on axle stands to be high
enough to do it from the bottom. Plus this would have needed to rotate the propshaft to get to all four bolts, not poss as the g'box locked.
