Pre-sva pics - 1 week left, opinions please
Hi Guys, managed to get some photos today, would appreciate any suggestions that anyone has on stuff i need to do for SVA.
To my knowledge I need to:
- Cover a couple of bits of the exhaust (wrap and lockwire on order)
- secure some of the cables under the bonnet
- make sure my harness cables can't chafe the tunnel padding
- fix my speedo, I get pulses from the pickup but my custom dash controller isn't counting them for some reason
- I think i may need front arch extensions
- seal a few joints in the exhaust with paste
- glue down some trim - can anyone recommend some glue that will stick PVC trim to Gelcoat?
- sort my fan so it doesn't come on on its own! v annoying when trying to start the car and it dips the batt voltage
- get a new battery

you may want to put some edge trim on the upper suspension brackets on the chassis, as it may be to smaller radius.?
looks good

Looks like you'll need some trim around the suspension brackets and you may need a bolt through that mushroom adapter that goes into the top of
the sierra upright (bone of contention that last one. Some stations want it others don't but I think it's becoming more popular).
Also can't see too well but the exhaust clip between the silencer and manifold may need twisting slightly to get the bolt head further round.
Nice build though, much neater than mine.

You may need to fit a bonnet
Good luck with SVA
How long can i resist the temptation to drop a V8 in?

looks good! you seem to have all the edges covered...
check your ride heights, i put mine about 30mm above the limit for the lights, and in the drive to sva she settled down to bang on it.

I'd loose the fire extinguisher till after sva. There's bound to be sharp edges on the top of it.
If it looks wrong it probably is wrong.

thanks for the advice so far guys, it all helps.
I'm expecting a fail and to end up with a list of stuff to fix but i'm gonna do my best to pass.

You will need extensions on the front and back of the front mudguards

Front mudguards, rear edge is higher than the centre of the axle.
Fix by adding a mudflap. I just cut the side out of a Red Comma Oil can for mine. I am going to take them off sometime...
Also the top front edge should be forward of a vertical line from the frontmost edge of the wheel rim (NOT the tyre)
Check both ends of the mudguard with a spirit level. To be honest they seem to be short mudguards.
Good luck with the SVA.
PS... Nice wheels

don't i thought that, and had 3 items to fix, one of which the SVA tester helped me with (carb tuning!) passed the same day!

Possible gaiters to cover them threads on the front shocks. I used leatherette held in place with cable ties. Hope this helps.

I see your seat belts go round your seats is this ok for the sva with them rubbing on the seat edge?
why have you done this and not gone though the holes in the seat ?

Yes I wouldn't expect a fail. I did the same thinking that my home build chassis would fail as well as a few other things but that bit was
passed. I failed on a few other silly things. The tester was genuinely interested in trying to make the car pass first time. Even when mine broke down
and refused to start he let me carry on flintstone style (me pushing it!)

I thought this was fairly common for sva - avoids them pulling on the harness holes under tension, is it not then?
Thanks
