registration, painless (so far)
Well, been to Northampton today to start the registration process. About a 20 minute wait. Then got seen by a very nice girl (should have got her
name) who was quite enthusiastic about sorting me out, been told about doing a kit car registration but it seems I was her first. Got into a minor
discussion with her alleged knowledgeable male colleague, he said I needed an MOT cert. I said no I don't. I was right.
I handed over all my paperwork and a cheque for £240. They got the diary out and said Inspection this Thursday ok for you.
So I said yes fine about 12:00 and they said OK.
Panic stations now, got to sort out the trailer wiring on the back of the Sierra and then source a trailer by Thursday 10:30 
Beware of the Goldfish in the tulip mines. The ONLY defence against them is smoking peanut butter sandwiches.

Can't they come to you as you point out the car is not road legal....(yet)

I drove my car to the inspection, who's going to say anything? The Police certainly wont take an interest and even if they do then you tell
them you're on the way to a DVLA registration meeting and they'll be cool 'cause they wont know anybetter.

Hi Clive,
What do the Northampton DVLA want to do? I thought (being very naive about these matters) that all you now needed to do was get them to issue a
number which enabled you to get plates, you then tax the car and whoopee!
If you paid for the sva then this £200plus today, how much will it cost in all to get the car on the road? If I need to have the IVA and the price
we are being led to believe will be in excess of £500.00, I'd better start saving now!

What was the £240 for? Is that registration and a years RFL?

Tax = £185
First reg fee = £55 so.. £240...
Driving to DVLA is illegal, I know its nutsack but really worth the risk?

If someone I know had sorted out the towbar electrics last September then they wouldn't be panicking now!! Lazy git.

OK, towing electrics now sorted, faulty rear connection/wiring/rear indicator relay/buzzer.
As Coozer said Registration fee plus 1 year RFL. I had the option 6 months or 1 year so opted for 1 year.
As regards driving MrBumble there, a couple of weeks ago I asked (Kelly, the one who does the inspections at Northampton DVLA) if it was ok to drive
it there, the reply I got made their position quite clear, 'If you drive your car here WE will prosecute you'. So in a way its a good job
I asked first.
With the trailer, I think Sara's boss at snap-on has a suitable trailer that he will let me borrow. failing that there is always towability,
down the embankment, its just the large deposit that I would need to find.
All being well, I MIGHT have number plates by next Wednesday.

I drove mine to the Northampton DVLA. The bloke who came out to check the chassis and engine numbers, which took all of two minutes, didn't
bat an eyelid and it was obvious that I had driven it there.
