Sierra rear drum set up
Hi does any body have a picture of their sierra rear drum set up for a velocity.
I am having problems getting the rear brakes to function.
1-I have bleed the brakes-seems OK
2-Bias bar is attatched and is pushing the cylinder rod in when the pedal is depressed.
Spoke to a mate he says the handbrake auto adjuster may have adjusted too much stopping the wheel cylinder from operating and may need to be adjusted
manually?
My worry is have i fitted the brake shoe assembly correct as the handbrake cable come in at the top and the assembly is 180 degrees differnt to the
picture in the sierra manual.
Cheers John

John the handbrake cables should
enter the backplate at the bottom
of the plate.
Dont think the handbrake will work
with it upsidedown.

I still think your backplates
are on the wrong sides for the shoes
to operate effectively.
I have never tried it but it just doesnt
sound right to me.
I bet someone with the same car as
yours will be along in a moment
to prove me wrong.

IIRC my Luego has the cable going into the top of the backplate but that shouldn't affect the foot brake operation . If you slacken off the
handbrake adjuster and remove the brake drum you should be able to operate the auto adjuster manually . Do it one click at a time and refit the brake
drum each time , rotate the drum to ensure that the brakes are not over adjusted and repeat as necessary .Make sure the adjuster mechanism does not
slip, if they do they are worn or siezed. Once happy with the adjustment then readjust the handbrake cables. Very few, if any auto adjusters work as
intended. Have you got the master cylinder fitted to the correct circuit? Bias bar may not be correctly adjusted? do both pistons in the wheel
cylinders work?
