What do you mean? Why cant you just use it? If you have removed the PAS and AC pumps then the belt will be too long so get a belt and spring loaded tensioner froma 1.25 Fiesta and you can use the alternator as is

Ok, I thought that, I only ask because I am building the car for a mate and he has an Emerald ECU but mentioned something about the alternator being ECU controlled or something?

If you use the aforementioned tensioner then the belt run will look like this:

This is my 1.25 Zetec SE. Have a look at my website for more pics (LINKY)

a lot of "modern" alternators are ECU sensed, easiest way is to get an old skool type alternator

long time no see,how are you?

Ok, just spoke to him and he said that he was told that the 1.6 Zetec SE ECU regulates the voltage back to the battery and therefore if using a non standard ECU (i.e. Emerald) then you need to fit a different alternator?

Hello mate!! Good to hear from you, How are you?

I figured easiest way is to just get a normal alternator off a suitable car that fits rather than paying silly money for one!

Does anyone have a particular one off a car that would fit??

I've got one from a Mk5 Diesel Escort. can't see any reason why it won't suit

It was just around the bolt fitments, really handy if it just bolts straight on with no messing around.
